Bethesda Expects Fallout 76 To Last ‘Forever’

When Blizzard launched World of Warcraft, it essentially meant that its Warcraft RTS franchise was put on hold. Given the ever-changing nature of the MMORPG, it would be hard to craft a story for Warcraft without it clashing or possibly contradicting the events that are taking place in the game. To date we have yet to see a new Warcraft title.

Could the same be happening with Bethesda’s Fallout franchise? We’re not sure, but Bethesda certainly does see Fallout 76 as a game that they would want to last “forever”. Speaking to Metro, Bethesda’s Pete Hines was asked how long he sees the game lasting for, in which he replied by saying, “forever”.

According to Hines, “So Fallout 76, our timeline is in perpetuity. Now what that content is gonna be, and what that’s gonna look like, I’m not sure. Part of our thing is we need to get people in the game and see how they respond.” He cites some of Bethesda’s older titles such as Morrowind, Fallout 4, or Skyrim, in which players are continuing to play the game despite some of them getting a bit long in the tooth.

He adds, “So 76 is going to be like that. We have some ideas for this and that, but let’s see what people want more of. Let’s see what they respond to and support that.” Fallout 76 is currently set for a release on the 14th of November, 2018 with Bethesda currently accepting pre-orders for the game which will also grant players access to the beta.
