Valve launched an updated version of its popular Counter Strike game back in 2012 called Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. The new title brought improvements to the gameplay and the graphics. In a bid to get more players in on the fun, Valve is now offering a free version of CSGO for offline play.

The free version of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was released this week by Valve as part of the latest update for the title. The free version does miss a key feature of the title for which it will be necessary to pay.

It’s only for offline play so players will be able to take on bots. They can perfect their skills against bots before they decide to pay $14.99 for the full version that opens up multiplayer.

Valve mentions on its website that the full version of the game gives players “access to online content and features, including multiplayer gameplay, official matchmaking, in-game inventories, skill groups, XP, ranks, and other online features.”

The free version is now available for Windows, Mac, and Linux. In addition to letting players go up against bots, it also lets them watch CSGO matches through GOTV, the spectating client for the game.

The full patch notes for the latest Counter-Strike: Global Offensive are now up on the official blog.
