Hurricane Florence has caused a lot of destruction along the U.S. Eastern seaboard. Google wants to make it easier for people in those areas to communicate with their loved ones. Communication is always critical in these situations as it enables people to find out if their friends and family are safe. It also allows for help to be despatched in a timely manner to those who need it the most. Google’s Project Fi is now offering $20 in credit to people who are affected by Hurricane Florence.
Project Fi did something similar during Hurricane Harvey. It’s once again offering $20 service credits to its customers in the Carolinas. Project Fi is informing customers by sending them emails.
It appears to be determining their eligibility for the $20 service credits based on their billing zip codes. The credit will be automatically applied to those customers accounts over the next few days, according to the email.
Major operators have yet to offer assistance to their customers in the affected areas but it may only be a matter of time before they do something like this as well. Major operators did offer free services after Hurricane Maria last year.
Google has also teamed up with uBreakiFix to offer free repairs for Pixel handsets to customers who are affected by Hurricane Florence.
