The release of iOS 12 is just around the corner. Based on past releases, it is more than likely that Apple will be making the update available to the phone shortly after the launch of their new iPhones, which at the moment appears to be set for the 12th of September. That being said, how does its predecessor, iOS 11, fare at this point in time?
According to Apple’s App Store support page for developers (via MacRumors), it looks like iOS 11 is sitting at a very healthy 85% adoption rate. However it has been pointed out that adoption has slowed in the past few months, where last we heard, the adoption rate was sitting at 81% and this was on the 31st of May.
It is possible that there are some who are holding out on adopting the latest version and are choosing to wait for iOS 12, but either way it’s still a very healthy number. The page also reveals that as far as older iOS builds are concerned, there are still about 10% of iOS devices running on iOS 10, and the remaining 5% are running on even older builds.
The adoption of Apple’s iOS platform has slowed somewhat in recent times. This is because of the numerous bugs that were discovered during its release which led to less than stellar experiences, which in turn put off users from being early adopters. Apple is expected to have addressed these quality issues with iOS 12, but we suppose we’ll just have to wait and see.
