It has been over a year since the Android Oreo update was released but there are still some devices that have yet to receive the update. That’s despite the fact that Android 9 Pie has now made its way to a few devices and will be arriving on more in the coming months. LG G5 owners on Verizon and T-Mobile will now be relieved as the carriers have now released the Oreo update for this device.

T-Mobile and Verizon have started rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the LG G5 over the air. Those who own the handset on either network will soon receive an update notification on their handsets if they haven’t already. It shouldn’t be long now before the update goes live for users in all regions.

The update brings all features that are part and parcel of Android Oreo. This includes user interface improvements as well as new features such as a picture in picture mode, a better notifications experience, and additional optimization for battery life.

The changelog of the update does mention that security patches are included but the precise month isn’t mentioned. Verizon and T-Mobile users who own the LG G5 should expect the update notification for Oreo to arrive on their handsets in the near future.
