Ubisoft is on the bandwagon of transforming games into properties for movies and TV. It’s increasing its efforts in this space and has now revealed that scripts for a Werewolves Within movie and a Child of Light TV series are being written. Both of these projects are part of Ubisoft’s Women’s Film and TV Fellowship for screenwriters.

The company has allowed Mishna Wolff and Tasha Huo, working on Werewolves Within and Child of Light respectively, to base these projects on its intellectual property. They worked with Ubisoft’s film and TV development teams for several months before being awarded script deals with Ubisoft Motion Pictures after they made successful pitches.

Mishna Wolff says that Werewolves Within provides a good base for a live-action horror comedy movie with a bit of political satire sprinkled in. The game is a virtual reality title which has players trying to figure out who in a group of villagers is actually a werewolf. If it’s the player then they have to successfully convince the others that they’re human.

Child of Light, a coming-of-age RPG platformer, will be developed into a live-action show. Huo says that he will work to capture the essence of this “playable fairytale with a strong female heroine.” She’s now writing a script for the show’s pilot.

Ubisoft has greenlighted work on these projects but that’s still not enough confirmation that they may ever see the light of day.
