Verizon, the country’s largest mobile carrier, has stopped selling the Google Pixel 2. It’s unclear if the carrier is just out of stock or if it has decided to just drop the device. Either way, the timing makes sense because Google will soon be unveiling the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL.

Google already has an event scheduled for October 9th. That’s when it’s going to unveil the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL smartphones. Verizon isn’t selling the regular Pixel 2 anymore, the listing for the device simply mentions that it is “no longer available for purchase.”

Verizon was the only carrier that sold the Pixel 2. Customers who want to purchase a Pixel 2 now will be limited in their options. They can either purchase the device from Google directly or from Best Buy. That’s based on the assumption that both will continue to sell it once the new handsets are announced.

Big Red is selling the Pixel 2 XL, though, but it could happen that this model may also go out of stock in the coming days. It has happened for the Pixel 2 already so it’s within the realm of possibility that Verizon will either run out of stock or just drop the handset from its lineup altogether.

The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will be launched on October 9th. It’s expected that they will be a carrier exclusive to Verizon for the third year in a row.
