Actress Brie Larson is currently set to play as superhero Captain Marvel in the upcoming movie, also by the same name, come 2019. However it turns out that Larson has her eyes set on other heroes as well, namely Samus of Nintendo’s Metroid franchise. This was revealed when Larson dressed up as Samus for Halloween.

This led to some wondering if maybe Larson could be interested in playing as Samus for a Metroid movie, in which Larson replied in the affirmative, saying that she would indeed be interested in such a role and would love to make that movie. That being said, as far as we know there is no Metroid movie in development right now.

However there have been talks in the past about a possible Metroid movie. The rights to the movie seems to have changed hands multiple times over the years, where director John Woo was the last person to have acquired the rights to the movie, but nothing seems to have happened since.

There was an article from IGN back in 2012 that revealed that there were issues during the development process in which Nintendo ultimately walked away from the project, but like we said there hasn’t really been much talk about it since. To be fair video game movie adaptations have received a bad rap over the years as most of the time they just don’t seem to work out, whether or not Larson’s interest might bring the project back to life remains to be seen, and we can’t say we’re opposed to the idea either.
