It was previously reported that Bethesda had come under fire from gamers who bought the $200 version of Fallout 76, the “Power Armor Edition”. This was because in the advertising materials, it was clearly shown and stated that players would be getting a canvas carrying bag, but without informing gamers, Bethesda made the switch to a cheap nylon bag.

Unsurprisingly this set many gamers off who felt that they were cheated by the switcheroo. To make things worse, it seems that some have discovered that Bethesda had actually made canvas bags that they handed out to “influencers”, which for unfamiliar is a term used to describe those who are popular on social media platforms like Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, and so on.

However it should be noted that the canvas bags provided to these influencers is more of a canvas backpack that has the Fallout logo printed on it, so it’s not quite the same as the canvas bag that was supposed to be part of the Power Armor Edition, but it’s also easy to see why this made it worse, as players who paid good money were cheated out of the real deal, but yet others were given so-called preferential treatment.

It is unclear how Bethesda plans on fixing this PR mess. The company had previously given away $5 worth of in-game currency to gamers, which some claim isn’t enough, but safe to say that this is the complete opposite to the reaction gamers had with Fallout 4’s Pip-Boy Edition which was met with positive reactions.
