From what we can tell, Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has proven to be a smashing success. However if there is one main criticism that many seem to have, it would be with the multiplayer feature of the game where it seems that many gamers are complaining of how laggy it is.

To make things worse, the Nintendo Switch Online service is a paid subscription, which means that gamers aren’t exactly getting what they paid for. Now it seems that many are recalling what the game’s director Masahiro Sakurai had recommended gamers do back in November: use a wired LAN cable.

During a Nintendo Direct event back in November, Sakurai was quoted as recommending gamers, “We’d appreciate if you’d make your connection as stable as possible. A wired LAN cable is recommended.” We’re sure that many did not think he was being serious, after all how bad could it be, right? Turns out based on the many reviews, pretty bad.

Nintendo is selling an official LAN adapter for the Switch which costs $30, which means in addition to the Switch Online subscription, the cost of the game, gamers may now need to top up an extra $30. If you really are experiencing terrible lag, then we guess you really don’t have much of a choice but to bite the bullet and get it.
