Several smartphone manufacturers will soon be launching new smartphones with a unique kind of display. There will be a hole in the panel itself for the front camera. This would eliminate the need for a notch and all these manufacturers to really push the display to the very edges on these devices. Huawei is due to launch its device on December 17th and some photos of that phone, the Huawei Nova 4, have now been leaked online.

These photos show the camera hole in display on the Huawei Nova 4. You can make out the hole in the top left corner of the display. It’s an otherwise almost completely bezel-less display, something which smartphone manufacturers are actively trying to achieve. They tried with the notch in 2018 and it appears that the hole in display will be their weapon of choice in 2019.

As previously mentioned, Huawei isn’t the only company making such a device. Samsung will be launching its device, the Galaxy A8s, a week earlier on December 10th. Not to be outdone by its rivals, Lenovo will launch its hole in display contender even earlier.

Honor, Huawei’s sub-brand, is expected to follow up with a similar device late next month. It’s fast becoming evident that this is going to be a major trend in the smartphone industry come 2019.
