If you don’t own the Nintendo Switch, you’ll need to purchase the console in order to play Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3. Nintendo has announced that the Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order will be available only for the Switch. The title was announced and a trailer was released at The Game Awards this week.

Those who don’t know about this franchise, the Marvel Ultimate Alliance series revolves around action RPG combat with characters from the Marvel Universe. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order is being developed by Team Ninja. It’s the same studio that made Ninja Gaiden and Nioh, among other titles. This is its first collaboration with Nintendo since Metroid: Other M.

Nintendo didn’t confirm precisely when this title is going to be released, only saying that it would be out at some point in 2019. Fans of the franchise have long been waiting for a new Ultimate Alliance title. The last one was released almost a decade ago in 2009 for several platforms.

The upcoming title will allow players to use a single Switch system for up to four player local co-op gameplay. It also has an original story in which players will take control of several Marvel heroes to fight against Thanos and his allies of the Black Order.
