The announcement video from Netflix mentions that the story in this series will revolve around the fictional characters who are responsible for getting the Space Force up and running. The Space Force is actually going to be a real thing, President Trump announced its creation as a new branch of the U.S. military last year.

As per the series reveal, the goal of the Space Force is to “defend satellites from attack,” and undertake other “space-related tasks.” The plot will revolve around the men and women who have to figure out what the Space Force is supposed to do.

Carell has co-created this series with Greg Daniels, who is well regarded for his work on other similar comedies such as The Office and Parks and Recreation. It’s going to be a while, though, before the series hits Netflix and we get to see the hilarity ensue.
