Microsoft confirmed a possible HoloLens 2 press event at Mobile World Congress 2019 and it has now posted a new teaser online which hypes up the impending launch of its new mixed reality headset. The company will indeed be unveiling it on February 24th in Barcelona. The teaser obviously doesn’t reveal too much about the new headset.

The teaser, posted by device creator Alex Kipman, confirms the launch of HoloLens 2 for February 24th. Mobile World Congress 2019 officially kicks off on February 25th but many companies will be making their product announcements a day earlier.

The clip makes vague references to processors and what might be carbon fiber. If that material has been used in HoloLens 2 it would make a significant difference in the weight department. Microsoft hasn’t revealed too much about the headset, though, so details are slim at this point in time.

What recent reports have suggested is that the HoloLens 2 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 850 ARM processor, will feature a wider field of view with a lighter body. Whether or not these changes will be enough to transform the HoloLens into more of a mainstream product remains to be seen. That’s what many will be most looking forward to come February 24th.
