Is Nintendo interested in virtual reality? The company has in the past confirmed that they are exploring it, and there have even been patents that suggests that the company is looking into it. In fact, there have been rumors in the past that one of the reasons why the Nintendo Switch was delayed was because Nintendo was trying to integrate VR into it.

Now according to Nintendo World Report, it seems that the company could finally be looking to integrate VR into the Switch. The report claims that Nintendo could have plans to make some kind of VR-related announcement planned for this year, where there might be a small number of first-party titles updated with support for VR.

It is unclear how this will work and if Nintendo plans on launching their own VR headset to support it. The company has explored VR in the past with the Virtual Boy, so this wouldn’t be their first attempt. Nintendo had previously tried to downplay their interest in VR, but if this report is accurate, it looks like their efforts could finally be coming to fruition.

It will be interesting to see if Nintendo’s attempts on VR will catch on. Sony has tried with the PlayStation VR, and we’ve also seen others such as Facebook and HTC take on VR with the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, but to date none of them have really caught on in a big way.
