Quite a few mobile companies will be heading to the Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona towards the end of this month to showcase their latest products. 5G phones will get a lot of time under the spotlight this year and many companies will be bringing their models as well. OnePlus has been talking up its 5G phone for a few months and it has now revealed that a 5G phone prototype will indeed be shown off at MWC 2019.

OnePlus won’t be making a big splash at MWC 2019 as some of its rivals but it will have a presence at Qualcomm’s MWC booth from February 25th through February 28th. It will have a 5G “prototype” on display which will enable visitors to get a taste of the next-generation mobile network.

It’s not like anyone in Barcelona will just be able to walk up to Qualcomm’s booth. The Mobile World Congress is not open to the public so most OnePlus fans will just have to wait for MWC coverage from their favorite blogs and YouTubers to find out more about the device that might potentially reveal key details about the first OnePlus 5G smartphone.

Not much is known about this device right now but OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has previously said that the company is trying to ensure that the price of this device can be kept under $1,000. That could give it an edge given that other 5G phones from the likes of Samsung are expected to cost well north of $1,000.
