We know that Facebook is interested in gaming to a certain degree, although on that front other platforms such as Twitch and YouTube do have a better audience. However it seems that Facebook is trying to step up their game by introducing “Gaming” to its main navigation menu where it will be more prominent and accessible by users.

According to Facebook, “We want to make it easier for people to find and connect around their favorite games, streamers, groups, and more. So today we’re starting to roll out a dedicated Facebook Gaming tab in the main navigation bar that will be a central home for people to discover, play, watch, and share gaming content personalized for them.”

Upon navigating to the Gaming section, gamers will be able to play games, watch gaming videos (similar to the likes of Twitch and YouTube), connect with other gaming groups, and more. That being said, it’s hard to ignore how Facebook does feel like they’re trailing behind other platforms in terms of gaming.

However according to TechCrunch, Facebook has tried to make themselves more appealing by encouraging streamers to stream via their platform, and that they will be taking a smaller cut of tips as a result to help make it more lucrative. Will these changes be enough to convince more gamers to hop over to Facebook? We suppose we’ll have to wait and see.
