For the second time within a month, Facebook’s three core services were down yet again. Reports starting coming in early this morning that Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram were down for users in several parts of the world. Users were unable to message each other and it was also not possible to load new content.

The issues continued for several hours as the services remained unavailable. Since the Facebook.com domain wasn’t loading, it was not even possible to check the service status on the company’s developer site.

Facebook had commented on the situation the last time through a tweet but it didn’t do that this time around. The company eventually blamed the previous outage on a server configuration change. It’s yet to comment on the latest outage so it’s not exactly known at this point in time what’s the issue this time.

One would certainly hope that this doesn’t become a monthly occurrence for Facebook’s services as even a few hours of outage can impact millions of people across the globe. Some users did report that services were started to get back online a few hours after they were reported to be down. So we might see them up and running properly before the end of the day.
