Recently, the developers behind the Divinity: Original Sin, Larian, posted a teaser image online which showed the roman numerals “III”. it was largely speculated and assumed that this was a teaser for Original Sin 3. This made sense given the success of the franchise, so obviously, a third part could be in the works, right?

However, it turns out that it might be something else entirely. According to Twitter user Kunken, it seems that if you were to save the teaser and then open it inside of a text editor, you would then be able to see references made to Baldur’s Gate 3 and also Wizards of the Coast. It has since been tested by multiple media outlets and found to be true.

Now, we should note that this is not the first time that it has been rumored that Larian could be making Baldur’s Gate 3. The company had previously denied this, but these references are kind of hard to ignore. The original trilogy (which includes the expansion) ended in 2001 and is still today one of the most highly-regarded RPGs ever to be made.

Previously, Beamdog had taken it upon themselves to remaster the older titles and add new content. There were talks about them possibly making a Baldur’s Gate 3, but that never quite took off. If you grew up playing the originals, then you would not be alone in hoping that these rumors will come true.
