One of the features of the new Nikon Z6 and Z7 mirrorless cameras is vibration reduction. It has been around in various Nikon cameras and in case you’re unfamiliar with what it does, it basically reduces vibrations caused by small movements that occur while shooting photos. Given that it would be near impossible to hold a camera perfectly still, this feature tries to offset those small shakes from our hands to help prevent blurred images.Unfortunately, for owners of the Z6 and Z7, it seems that Nikon has since issued a technical service advisory where they are noting that some models of the Z6 and Z7 have faulty vibration reduction features. “While Nikon has taken great measures to assure the high quality expected of Nikon products, it has come to our attention that the vibration reduction (VR) feature in some Nikon Z 6 and Z 7 cameras may not function fully. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
The company has also announced that they will be correcting this issue by offering free shipping and repairs for camera models that are affected. “Nikon has resolved this by making available corrective service for affected Z 6 and Z 7 cameras free of charge, including the cost of shipping an affected Z 6 and Z 7 camera to Nikon as well as its return, even if your Z 6 or Z 7 camera warranty has expired.”
