There are music subscription services, video subscription services, game subscription services, and more, so why shouldn’t there be a subscription service for cars as well, right? It’s not a particularly new concept as we have seen companies such as Cadillac, Mercedes, and Ford launch similar services in the past.

Now it looks like car rental company Hertz has decided to get in on the action as well and has since announced a new car rental subscription program called Hertz My Car. For $999 a month, this will give subscribers access to an entire fleet of vehicles in a variety of sizes and types, ranging from sedans, small SUVs, trucks, and more. For those who might need more luxurious vehicles, there is a second $1,399 a month tier that will give them access to luxury sedans as well.

This is a rather expensive program because at $999 a month, long-term it could actually be more expensive than actually buying a car. However, we imagine that being able to access any type of vehicle whenever you need does have its advantages, so we imagine that’s what Hertz plans to sell customers on.

The company will be initially launching in Atlanta and Austin, Texas so if you live in those areas, this could be worth checking out as an alternative to buying and owning your own car.
