Not to be outdone by Xiaomi and the 100W charging system that it announced in March this year, Vivo today showed off its SuperFlashCharge technology which it claims is a 120W charging system. Vivo says that it can charge a 4,000mAh phone battery in just 13 minutes. This would certainly make it the fastest charging system on the market if Vivo actually ships a device with it.

The video of Super FlashCharge 120W in action was posted by a product manager for Vivo on Weibo, China’s equivalent of Twitter. It showed off a device charging from 10 to 14 percent in just about 16 seconds. The video doesn’t show a full charging cycle so the company’s claims can only be taken with a pinch of salt for now.

The best fast charging system that Vivo has shipped to date has been in its iQOO gaming smartphone. It offered 44W charging and was capable of charging the handset’s 4,000mAh battery in 45 minutes. So it will be interesting to see when Vivo is actually capable of shipping this insanely fast charging tech.

One would imagine that the company might do that at MWC Shanghai next week. That’s where the company is likely to unveil its first 5G smartphone.
