It’s no secret that as far as consoles are concerned, Microsoft and Sony are rivals with their Xbox and PlayStation platforms respectively. For years, both companies have enjoyed a healthy rivalry and it shows, especially this year where Xbox boss Phil Spencer showed his competition some camaraderie.

Speaking in an interview with Giant Bomb, Spencer was quoted as saying, “I wish Sony was here. E3 is not as good when they’re not here.” For those unfamiliar, Sony was not present at E3 2019. The company had confirmed back in 2018 that they would not be making an appearance at E3 this year.

Sony had said back then, “As the industry evolves, Sony Interactive Entertainment continues to look for inventive opportunities to engage the community. PlayStation fans mean the world to us and we always want to innovate, think differently and experiment with new ways to delight gamers. As a result, we have decided not to participate in E3 in 2019. We are exploring new and familiar ways to engage our community in 2019 and can’t wait to share our plans with you.”

This is not the first time that both companies have shown support for each other despite their obvious rivalry in the market, and it’s actually quite fun and refreshing to see in an industry which is highly competitive.
