It appears that NVIDIA has a new Shield TV in the pipeline. A new version of the device was first spotted in the Play Console device catalog last month, suggesting that NVIDIA might be out with it in the not too distant future. An FCC filing has now been spotted for a device which very well might be the new NVIDIA Shield TV.

Going by the information available so far, the new NVIDIA Shield TV is going to run on Android 9 Pie out of the box. However, it may not be all that different compared to its predecessor. As expected, it will have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support, as highlighted in the FCC filing as well.

The FCC label highlights the possibility that the upcoming model might ditch the bulky external power supply of the 2017 model as it may have an internal power supply instead. This would be a good move as it would result in fewer cables and plugs for users to handle behind their TVs.

As far as the hardware is concerned, the same Tegra X1 T210 chipset is listing which was used for the 2017 model. There have been rumors that this SoC will be refreshed soon and that the new version may retain the same name. NVIDIA has yet to confirm, though, when it’s going to bring a new Shield TV to the market.
