Smart speakers like the Amazon Echo aren’t exactly known for their audio quality. Instead, their focus is more on its smarts and its connectivity where the idea is that it will help users connect with their smart home devices and help fetch information. However, who says that it needs to be mutually exclusive?

After all, that was kind of what Apple was aiming for with the HomePod, and according to a report from Bloomberg, that’s something that Amazon plans on addressing in the future. According to the report, it seems that Amazon is working on a new set of Echo speakers with an emphasis on improved audio quality.

The report cites people familiar with the matter who claims that these new speakers will be slightly larger. This is due to how Amazon is planning on adding more components to them, such as additional tweeters that could improve on the overall audio output. When exactly we might see these new speakers remains to be seen, but if you are hoping for a smart speaker that also sounds good, this could be worth keeping an eye out for.

In the meantime, Google has its Google Home Max which is a smart speaker with Google Assistant integration and also an emphasis on audio quality. However, if Alexa is a must-have for you, then Sonos might have some speakers with Alexa integration that could also be worth taking a look at.
