These days as we’re starting to see more facial recognition technology being employed, we’re sure that many are starting to feel a bit uncomfortable at the idea that they could be walking down the streets and be recognized by a security camera system. However, designer Ewa Nowak thinks she might have found a potential solution to that problem: jewelry.
As you can see in the photo above, Nowak created an odd-looking piece of jewelry that seems to be capable of beating facial recognition systems. It consists of two brass circles that hand down from the cheekbones, along with a long-ish piece of brass that goes up the forehead. It is also worn like you would a pair of glasses.
That being said, it is a rather outlandish design and it’s not really something we imagine that most people would wear on a daily basis, but for those who are fashion-forward and want some privacy at the same time, this could be the solution. However, Nowak notes that in order for it to be effective, it needs to be molded to the wearer’s face.
This means that if you were hoping to cop a pair at a retail store, you can’t, plus Nowak has no plans to mass produce it. The designer views her work as more of a piece of art rather than a product. This would not be the first time we’ve seen attempts to try and beat facial recognition systems. Previously, it was found that a colorful patch that can be printed from any printer also has the ability to beat such systems.
