It was reported earlier this year that McDonald’s was thinking about ending its exclusive delivery deal with Uber Eats. The two companies had reportedly been negotiating on fees with the fast food giant looking to bring costs paid to the ride-share company down. The negotiations were also aimed at enabling franchisees to use delivery partners other than Uber Eats. There’s development on this front now as McDonald’s has confirmed that DoorDash is now its McDelivery partner in the United States.
DoorDash will start deliveries for McDonald’s first in Houston, Texas from July 29th. The food food giant will also be a part of DashPass which is the delivery service’s subscription program. With DashPass, members can get unlimited $0 delivery fees as long as their order is $12 or more to select merchants.
The two companies have integrated their systems so DoorDash orders are sent directly to McDonald’s point-of-sale system which ensures a smooth experience for both customers and franchisees.
This obviously doesn’t mean that McDelivery is dropping Uber Eats as a delivery partner with which it first linked up back in 2017. That partnership has made McDelivery available at more than 9,000 restaurants in the United States, more than half of all McDonald’s locations in the country.
