The problem with electric cars is that they need to be recharged. If you’re not diligent about keeping it topped off, there is a good chance you could find yourself out of battery, and since chargers aren’t exactly widely available, it can be rather inconvenient. However, if you ever do find yourself in such a situation, maybe don’t do what this couple did.

According to a report from TV station WPBF, it seems that over in Florida, homeowner Phil Fraumeni woke up one day to find a Tesla parked on his lawn. Not only was it parked, but it was also tethered to his house where the owners of the car plugged their charger into his home to juice up their car.

To make it worse, the owners were nowhere in sight. Fraumeni exercised great patience where instead of yanking out the charger and calling a tow truck, he instead waited a few hours before ultimately calling the cops. The couple later returned for their car where they admitted that they had it parked there since midnight, where they claimed that they were visiting a friend and their car had run out of battery.

There was no apologies made or offer of compensation, and to Fraumeni’s credit, he did not press charges even though he was well within his right to do so. So, the next time you find yourself in a similar bind, perhaps knock on the door and ask for permission first.
