In the past, there have studies conducted to find if the radiation given off from our phones are dangerous. So far, the general consensus seems to be that they are safe for human use, but according to a report from The Chicago Tribune has suggested that our phones are actually giving off more radiation than is allowed.According to the report, they claim that in a series of tests they commissioned, they found that handsets like the iPhone and other devices are exceeding the safe radiofrequency radiation limits. For example, in the test, the iPhone 7 actually measured double over the safety limit and double what Apple reports to federal regulators like the FCC.
The FCC has since confirmed that they will be investigating these claims over the next few months to see if they meet safety standards. Apple has also since responded to the Tribune’s report in a statement that reads, “All iPhone models, including iPhone 7, are fully certified by the FCC and in every other country where iPhone is sold. After careful review and subsequent validation of all iPhone models tested in the (Tribune) report, we confirmed we are in compliance and meet all applicable … exposure guidelines and limits.”
Other handsets tested that also exceeded the safety limits include the Samsung Galaxy S8, with the company also responding by claiming that all their phones comply with the FCC’s regulations.
