Thanks to the age of the internet, software is mostly a digital download where if you accidentally delete it, you won’t need to scour your cupboard to look for the install disk. Instead, all you’ll need to do is download it again from the developer’s website. However, when it comes to Windows 10 reinstalls, that’s where it gets a bit tricky.

However, the good news is that Microsoft is finally going to be bringing internet recovery to Windows 10 computers. This means that in the event you need a fresh install of Windows 10, you’ll be able to download it from the cloud. This is versus current methods which involves a partition, third-party tools, USB key, or the actual install disk.

We should note that Microsoft actually offers a similar restore feature for its Surface lineup of computers, but now they will be expanding it to non-Surface devices. However, as Microsoft notes, this feature isn’t available just yet. It is in the Insider build but it isn’t activated yet so you won’t be able to try it out even if you’re taking part in the Insider program.

However, it should still be something to look forward to as it is a feature that Apple users have had for years, so it’s about time that Microsoft brings it to its Windows platform.
