Our suitcases and luggage are more than just bags to keep our clothes in while we travel. Over the years, we’ve seen companies try to make these travel essentials smarter. For example, we’ve seen some companies such as Rimowa introduce digital luggage tags. We’ve also seen how some companies have come up with luggage that can follow you instead of you having to wheel them around.

Now it looks like on Kickstarter, a new smart luggage has been launched in the form of the Kabuto. While on the surface, the Kabuto looks like an ordinary suitcase, under the hood is where all its smarts are kept. For example, one of the features of the luggage is that it comes with a built-in fingerprint lock to better secure your items.

There is also a built-in charger in the suitcase so that you will be able to charge your gadgets on the go, like your laptop or mobile devices. The battery is of the 10,000mAh variety which makes it safe to be brought on board flights, and should be enough to juice your smartphone at least a couple of times.

If there is one thing we think is missing from the luggage, it would be a built-in tracking system to keep track of your luggage, but that’s just a minor quibble. If you’re interested in the luggage, you can back it on Kickstarter where its creators are promising a delivery before Christmas 2019.
