With the update to iOS 13, iPhone and iPad users can now finally directly connect gaming controllers from the PS4 and the Xbox One to their devices. However, unlike the PS4’s DualShock 4 controller, the Xbox One controller isn’t as straightforward to connect and only certain models will work.

This is why it doesn’t come as a complete surprise to see Apple is now officially selling the Xbox Wireless Controller in its online store. We can only assume that this is done to help prevent any potential confusion amongst consumers as to which model they will need to connect to their iOS or Apple TV devices, especially if they were to attempt to buy it themselves from outside retailers.

That being said, Sony’s DualShock 4 controller is not being offered in the store and we’re not sure if there are plans to make it available, so we’ll keep our eyes peeled. The Xbox Wireless Controller is priced at $60 and if you’re interested in picking one up for yourself, head on over to Apple’s website for the details.

At the moment, only the DualShock 4 and Xbox Wireless Controller are the only controllers by console makers supported by the iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV. There doesn’t seem to be plans to add support for the Nintendo Switch’s Pro Controller, although that would be a nice addition. In the meantime, if you’d like to connect your console’s controllers to the iPhone or iPad, check out our guide here for more information.
