We’ve known about Elon Musk’s plan to build a city and move people over to Mars. However, that is not a reality – for now.

There’s still a lot of things to take care of on Earth. So, moving to Mars is still a far-fetched idea. But, nothing stops Elon Musk to plan and have an idea on what it could take to make it a reality.

When responding to some questions on Twitter, Elon Musk said that it will require a minimum of 1000 starships to build a self-sustaining city on Mars.

He also added that it will take about 20 years to transfer million tons to Mars Base Alpha to make it sustainable because the planets align every two years.

Of course, that is just a vague estimate, but it is quite interesting to learn about it from Elon Musk himself.

Even though we cannot be too sure of what would happen – the interesting insights by Elon Musk’s response are definitely something to look out for considering all the SpaceX developments so far.

While we know that Elon Musk discussed about a crewed Mars mission by 2024, only time will say what else can be possible after the planned missions take place.
