After a series of rumors and leaks, it seems that Apple’s latest MacBook Pro has arrived, and it represents the largest MacBook Pro that we have seen from Apple in a while. The new MacBook Pro, as per the rumors, now features a 16-inch display. Prior to this, the biggest MacBook Pro featured a 15-inch display, and prior to that, Apple actually had a 17-inch model which has been discontinued for a while.

However, it seems that this new 16-inch MacBook Pro will not represent a third option for the MacBook Pro lineup. Instead, it will be replacing the 15-inch MacBook Pro which means that for the foreseeable future, Apple will offer MacBook Pros in either a 13-inch option or a 16-inch display option. The good news is that it appears that the price of the base 16-inch model will not be too different from the 15-inch model, so it’s not as if you need to pay more.

The new 16-inch MacBook Pro will of course sport a higher resolution to maintain its Retina status, where users can look forward to a 3,072×1,920 resolution. Apple is also boasting that the 16-inch model will offer up a more advanced thermal design that will allow it to run at higher power for sustained periods of time.

As per the previous rumors, Apple has also improved upon the speakers and microphones of the laptop, where you can look forward to better-quality audio and also microphones that do a better job of picking up your voice.

Finally, the new 16-inch MacBook Pro will come with a brand new keyboard. This will see Apple ditch the ill-fated butterfly mechanism for good in favor of a more traditional scissor switch, but even then it won’t be like the scissor switch found on pre-butterfly MacBooks. Instead, there are some tweaks and improvements made to it where it is said to offer a more stable typing experience. Apple is calling this new keyboard the Magic Keyboard, but don’t confuse it with the Magic Keyboard that comes bundled with Apple’s iMacs.

Whether or not this will hold up remains to be seen, but so far early reviews have found that the new keyboard is a lot nicer to type on. Other specs include an Intel Core i7 CPU, configurable to an Intel Core i9 CPU, AMD Radeon Pro 5300M/5500M GPU, 16GB of RAM that can be configured up to 64GB, and a 512GB base SSD that can also be upgraded up to 8TB, although that will probably cost you a pretty penny.

Apple’s new MacBook Pro will be priced starting at $2,399 and is currently available for order.
