With the launch of the iPhone 11, Apple introduced larger batteries to the lineup much to the delight and praise of many of its users. Battery life on the iPhone has been somewhat contentious over the years and many were pleasantly surprised when the new iPhones brought about a substantial jump in battery life.

If you are planning on buying 2020’s iPhones, we have some good news for you because according to a report from The Elec, the 2020 iPhones are expected to come with an even bigger battery. The report claims that Apple is expected to make use of a custom battery protection module that will apparently be 50% thinner and smaller than the current module.

As a result, this will free up quite a bit of space within the phone itself, which in turn could be used to introduce a larger battery. Exactly how much bigger remains to be seen, but it’s still welcome news all the same. There have been several articles that have attributed this shift in design due to Jony Ive leaving Apple.

The design guru was known for pushing thinner than ever designs, which made it difficult to slot in larger batteries. However, with Ive no longer part of Apple, some claim that this has allowed the company to create devices that might be slightly thicker in order to accommodate larger batteries. The 2020 iPhones are also rumored to come with an in-display fingerprint sensor along with support for 5G.
