According to a report from back in August, it was suggested that due to the ongoing trade war between the US and China, that Apple’s iPhones could be hit with 15% tariffs. As it turns out, it seems that Apple could have narrowly escaped that one, where due to US President Donald Trump signing a trade deal with China, Apple is now spared those tariffs.

It should be noted that the trade war is far from over and that this deal is only a part of a larger picture, but as far as Apple is concerned, they are safe. That being said, some had previously expressed their concern that the tariffs could lead to an increase in the prices of Apple products. However, it was later suggested that Apple could be absorbing those costs on their end to maintain their prices.

As it stands, Apple is already paying tariffs on other products like the Apple Watch, AirPods, iMac, and HomePod components, but with this deal, those tariffs could soon be eliminated. This is good news for the company as it also means that they will get to reduce their costs. Whether or not this will be a permanent thing remains to be seen, but for now, it looks like Apple has managed to escape somewhat unscathed.
