One of the problems with emojis is that they tend to be a bit static. While many companies have expanded on the number of different types of emojis over the years, we reckon that it could stand to be a bit more varied. Thankfully, Google has an idea and that is to combine various emojis together to create new mashups.

This new series of emojis will be available for Android users in the form of the “Emoji Kitchen”. As you can see in the image above, this basically mashes up a couple of emojis together to create a new type of emoji that will be more expressive and fun to use. However, the downside is that at the moment, you can’t just mix and match your own.

Instead, right now users will be pretty much at the mercy of Google’s designers. This means that if certain emojis have yet to be combined, then you’d be out of luck. However, users can check out what’s available by tapping on an emoji and wait for suggestions to appear. Also, this feature is only available for Gboard on Android, which presumably should eventually find its way to iOS users as well (or so we hope).

The new Emoji Kitchen should already be rolling out to Android users as we speak, so do make sure you’re running the latest version of Gboard to check it out.
