Amazon is a company known by many to be one of the biggest online retailers in the world. While they do sell their own hardware, they are typically in the form of tablets or e-readers. However, it seems that Amazon has decided to dive into the world of wearables as they have since announced the Halo Band.

As you can see in the image, the Halo Band is not a smartwatch due to the lack of a display. It is more like a fitness band that will be able to track your health and fitness related activities thanks to several built-in sensors. This includes an accelerometer, a temperature sensor, a heart rate monitor, and a couple of microphones which will be used to speak to Alexa, Amazon’s digital assistant.

While it might sound rather basic, this is where the accompanying app and new service called Halo comes into play. Halo will be a subscription service priced at $3.99 a month and will give users access to features like body scanning and also the ability to gauge your emotional state throughout the day by asking you to speak to it where it will analyze the tone of your voice.

These sound like rather interesting features, and if you are interested, the Halo Band will be priced at $99.99. Amazon is launching the Halo Band as part of an invite-only early access program where those who are invited can purchase the device at an introductory price of $64.99 which will also include six months of free access to Amazon’s Halo service.
