Earlier this year, there were rumors that Apple could be dropping several accessories from the iPhone 12’s packaging. This included the EarPods and also the charging brick. Now according to a new report from TrendForce, it looks like they have also corroborated those claims, which we imagine might be disappointing for some.

According to TrendForce’s report, the reason for this is because Apple is hoping to reduce the overall cost of producing an iPhone. Due to the use of 5G components, it is said that the costs to Apple has increased, so they are hoping to offset those costs by removing some of the accessories they would typically include with the iPhone.

However, at the same time it has also been suggested that one of the reasons behind this, especially with the removal of the EarPods, is to drive customers to purchase their own accessories, hopefully in the form of Apple’s AirPods true wireless headphones. Whether or not that is true is anyone’s guess, but we imagine that some people will end up purchasing the AirPods as a result of this.

As for the charging brick, we have heard that the iPhone 12 will ship with a USB-C to Lightning cable. This means that if you own a MacBook Pro, you can actually take advantage of the existing charging brick to help fast charge the iPhone.
