Apple Watch Saves The Life Of A Cop Who Was Stabbed During An Arrest

The Apple Watch has saved quite a number of lives over the years, although it was done mostly through the heart and ECG monitoring feature that alerted the wearer to potential health problems before it became too late. Now it seems that the Apple Watch has saved yet another life, but in a different way.

Sgt. Sosa of the Superior Police Department was interested by the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office last Friday where it was revealed that Sosa was attempting to arrest a wanted felon when he was stabbed during the process. During the struggle to bring the felon to the ground, Sosa’s microphone was unplugged from his radio which prevented him from getting in touch with his dispatcher, Gloria Wheeler.

As Wheeler was unable to get in touch with Sosa over the radio, she then attempted to call him, which he then managed to answer the call on his Apple Watch where he requested for assistance from the other officers to help complete the arrest. He had also taken the opportunity to ask for an ambulance to be sent to his location after the suspect had stabbed him in the leg.

Wheeler received an award for her actions that helped save the life of Sosa, to which Sosa thanked her and said, “The dispatcher saved my life because I was able to continue fighting, and she was able to send resources I needed out there.”
