The Apple Watch is not exactly cheap, and we have been hearing rumors that Apple could actually be planning a new and more affordable Apple Watch. It turns out that the rumors were partially right as Apple has since officially announced the Apple Watch SE, which sits between the Series 3 and the Series 6.

According to Apple, the Apple Watch SE will feature a chipset that will make it 2.5 times faster than the Series 3. It will also sport the same larger display as the newer Apple Watch models, and will come with a host of fitness related features that we’ve come to expect from a smartwatch.

Unfortunately, and not surprisingly, there is no inclusion of the ECG monitoring feature nor is there the new blood oxygen monitor, which we guess is fair if Apple wants to keep its prices down. What’s interesting is that we had previously heard that Apple could actually replace the Series 3 with the Apple Watch SE, but that did not happen.

Apple will be keeping the Series 3 around where it will be priced at $199, but if you wanted a larger display and faster performance, then the Apple Watch SE could be the smartwatch for you where it will be priced starting at $279. It will also be available for financing using the Apple Card.
