Facebook is great on the Z Fold 2

There’s nothing wrong with foldable phones. In fact, we really like it as a concept, but in reality, they are simply too expensive to take a chance on. This is why they aren’t being as adopted as Samsung would like, but the company is hoping to change that in 2021 where they might launch a sub-$1,000 foldable device.

This is according to a report from the Display Supply Chain Consultation (DSCC) in which they are predicting Samsung could introduce a new foldable phone in 2021 that could be more affordable than its predecessors, although exactly what they mean by “affordable” remains to be seen.

At the moment, the cheapest Samsung foldable is the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, which is still over the $1,000 mark but is still cheaper than the Galaxy Z Fold 2. However, despite its cheaper price, its hardware is a bit lacking which might is why it isn’t quite as popular, especially when you spend that kind of money and can get a “better” phone.

Obviously pricer is the key to getting consumers to hop on board the foldable bandwagon, but we’ll have to wait until 2021 to see what Samsung could have planned. In the meantime, we have also heard rumors that even Apple could be considering something similar for the future where it could launch as early as 2022.
