If you’re someone who still relies on Google Cloud Print, then you might want to take note because on the 1st of January, 2021, the service will cease to exist as Google will be officially shutting it down. The company did announce this back in 2019, but this is a reminder for those who forgot or for those who did not hear about it back then.

For those who are unfamiliar, Google Cloud Print is a service that Google provided to make it easier for those on Chrome OS to print their documents. Given that Google offers a lot of cloud-based services like Google Docs, Sheets, Gmail, and more, having a way to allow users to print their files quickly and easily made sense.

It also made it easier on Google’s part as they would not have to create and manage printing subsystems for various device and printer combinations. However, this was back in 2010 and things have improved a lot since then, which might explain why Google has decided to retire the feature as it might not be in use as much anymore.

So like we said, if you are still using Google Cloud Print, then you might want to take note of these changes and find an alternative in the next few days.
