Now that Apple has given its MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini the M1 chipset, this leaves the iMac, iMac Pro, and Mac Pro. While we can’t speak for the latter two devices, it  seems that the iMac could be getting an M1 refresh in the near future, or at least that’s what leakster L0vetodream seems to imply.

According to a mysterious tweet, L0vetodream posted the number “3” accompanied by a video of the iMac. This has led to speculation that this could mean that Apple’s next M1 computer could be the iMac. In a way, even though this is a rumor, it makes sense because like we said, Apple has already updated its other computers, and we imagine that the company will probably hold off on its other Pro models until a more powerful Apple Silicon chip can be designed.

This leaves the iMac as the sole computer that the company has yet to update, plus there have been rumors suggesting that the iMac could be getting a redesign, so why not now? The use of the number 3 also suggests that the launch could take place as soon as March, which once again isn’t a stretch when you consider that Apple usually hosts an event in the early part of the year, so March is a pretty good fit.

All of this is just speculation at this point in time, so take it with a grain of salt, but if you were holding out for an M1 powered iMac, then hopefully we’ll have some answers for you in the coming months.
