When buying furniture, it helps if you know what you plan to put in it. For example, if you want to buy a TV console unit, you might want to take into account the size of other gadgets that you’ll be fitting in it, like the size of your soundbar, maybe an amplifier, your set-top box, and so on. Of course, you will need to know the sizes beforehand, but IKEA wants to lend you a helping hand.

In a post on Reddit, u/TomaccoTastesLikeGma shared a photo taken at a local IKEA where it seems that the company has created mockups of both the PS5 and Xbox Series X console. Obviously IKEA isn’t selling consoles, but they want shoppers to use these mockups if they plan to buy some furniture and want to know if the PS5 or Xbox Series X will fit into it.

This means that instead of you having to haul around your console to IKEA, which we don’t really recommend, or try to figure out the dimensions by looking it up online and using IKEA’s ultra-flimsy paper rulers, these mockups will be able to tell you if the furniture you’re buying is the right fit for your brand new console.

It’s actually a very clever idea and one that we have to wonder why IKEA did not think of before with older consoles, but hey, better late than never, right? So if you are planning to buy a new TV cabinet to house either of these consoles, then head on over to IKEA and check it out!
