For those who were fans of the iPhone SE, we had previously reported that Apple would not be refreshing the device so soon. We had heard that it might arrive in the second half of 2021 at the earliest, but a report from Macotakara is now claiming otherwise and that we might actually see the phone launched in April 2021.

The report claims that the device will be announced alongside the AirPods Pro 2 which will also be taking place in April. Unfortunately, apart from a speculated launch date, not much else is known about the 3rd gen iPhone SE. There have been rumors in the past claiming that Apple is working on a larger version of the iPhone SE with a 5.5-inch display, but it is unclear if this is a variation of the iPhone SE that launched in 2020 or if it is a third-gen model.

It has also been rumored that the 5.5-inch iPhone SE will sport a design similar to that of the iPhone 8 Plus, but once again, we can’t say for sure if this is merely a variation of 2020’s model of a true 3rd gen refresh. For context, the 2020 iPhone SE launched with a 4.7-inch display and is powered by the A13 Bionic, the same chipset used in 2019’s iPhone 11 series.

Despite its smaller nature and singular camera design, it is still very much a powerful handset that is priced relatively affordably compared to the other iPhones. It’s a great option for those who want an iPhone but don’t want to break the bank. It is unclear how much the 3rd gen iPhone SE could cost, but presumably the larger display, if true, could see an increase in price.
