Apple’s AirPods lineup currently consists of the regular AirPods and the AirPods Pro that comes with noise-cancelling technology. However, there have been rumors suggesting that Apple could actually be developing a third model that would sit between the regular AirPods and the Pro model and has been tentatively referred to as the AirPods Pro Lite.

Now thanks to photos published by 52Audio, we might have an idea of what the earphones could look like. In terms of design, the AirPods Pro Lite or AirPods 3 could feature a similar design as its predecessor, but with a slightly shorter stem. However, it will incorporate the use of silicone ear tips similar to the AirPods Pro. This should make the earphones more secure compared to the regular AirPods.

There are also some changes made under the hood, where it could also borrow features from the AirPods Pro, such as Force Sensor controls that will allow the earphones to support gesture-based commands. However, that’s where the similarities end as apparently they will not feature active noise-cancellation technology.

Presumably, Apple wants to differentiate the models so if you do want ANC, you might have to spring for the slightly more expensive Pro model. We have heard rumors that the earphones are due for a launch in the first half of 2021, so it is possible that they could debut alongside the new iPad Pro models and also the rumored AirTags tracking accessory.
