In case you didn’t know, Amazon actually has their own development studio where they make video games. Dubbed Amazon Game Studios, it wouldn’t be surprising if you have not heard of them since they haven’t exactly been cranking out triple A titles that have managed to receive critical acclaim.However, that could change under Amazon’s next CEO, Andy Jassy. As some of you might have heard by now, Amazon’s current CEO Jeff Bezos has announced that later this year, he will be stepping down as Amazon’s CEO and will be succeeded by Jassy. In emails obtained by Bloomberg, it seems that Jassy is keen on putting more of Amazon’s focus into developing video games.
In the emails that Jassy sent out, “Being successful right away is obviously less stressful, but when it takes longer, it’s often sweeter. I believe this team will get there if we stay focused on what matters most. Though we haven’t consistently succeeded yet in AGS, I believe we will if we hang in there.”
It will be an interesting direction for Amazon to take, especially when you consider that they aren’t exactly known for their games. However, this doesn’t mean that they can’t do well, especially with all the resources available to them.
