While Apple Maps has come a long way since its initial debut, there are still some features missing from it that other apps have. For example, if you like to use Waze mainly because it allows you to report accidents and hazards, then you might be interested to learn that Apple Maps will be gaining that feature soon.

According to the latest beta of iOS 14.5, it has been discovered that Apple Maps will be gaining a few new features, one of which is the ability for users to report accidents, hazards, speed traps, and more using Siri or CarPlay. These are highly useful features which helped make Waze as popular as it is today.

This means that if you’re driving and someone else reported an accident or hazard and you’re around the area or driving along the route, at least this information will help you decide if maybe you should turn off the road and take a different route and plan your journey accordingly. Given that users probably shouldn’t use their phones while driving, these reports can be made using Siri commands or through CarPlay if you have a CarPlay infotainment unit installed.

There is currently no word on when iOS 14.5 will be released, but when it is, this is one of the new features of Apple Maps that you can look forward to.
