It’s no surprise that Facebook isn’t thrilled with the various privacy changes that Apple has implemented and plans to implement. So much so that the company has since published a video ad in which they seem to want to try and convince the public that tracking users and their activity for personalized ads is actually a good thing.

Advertising

According to Facebook, they have cited a few small business owners who have used personalized ads to help get their businesses more exposure, and they claim that without personalized ads, it would make it harder for these small businesses to find consumers.

“Every business starts with an idea, and being able to share that idea through personalized ads is a game changer for small businesses. It has helped make advertising affordable for small business owners like Melissa and Annette and helped people discover products and services they might not have otherwise — like that goat yoga class they didn’t know they needed. Limiting the use of personalized ads would take away a vital growth engine for businesses.”

This is pretty much the same thing Facebook had stated in the past, where they previously claimed that by limiting or blocking tracking, it would hurt small businesses. However, at the same time, many people have felt that over the years, Facebook’s personalized and targeted ads have become increasingly intrusive and almost creepy in nature. It remains to be seen how big of an impact these privacy changes will have and whether or not Facebook was right.
